Greenberg Traurigs Michele L. Stocker and Jennifer L. Gray to Speak at MBA’s Legal Issues and Regulatory Compliance Conference

Greenberg Traurig shareholders Michele L. Stocker and Jennifer L. Gray will speak at the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) Legal Issues and Regulatory Compliance Conference. The conference will be held May 3-6 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers in Chicago, Illinois.

We, as a firm, value our continued involvement with the MBA and are proud to be a recurring sponsor of this annual event, said Stocker, a shareholder and Chair of the firms national Financial Services Litigation Practice.

Stocker will participate in the May 4 session, Major Litigation Update, from 1:30 2:45 p.m. The discussion will focus on major litigation, including recent cases heard by the Supreme Court involving the Administrative Procedure Act and disparate impact. Other important cases and case trends in federal and state courts will also be considered.

Gray, a shareholder in the firms Financial Services Litigation Practice in Los Angeles, will speak at the May 3 session entitled Enforcement Litigation from 2:00 3:15 p.m. This session will review state and federal enforcement claims against the industry. These include claims under RESPA Section 8, Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP) and other federal and state laws.

Based in the firms Fort Lauderdale, Florida office, Stocker is a commercial litigator with a broad range of experience representing clients in the financial services industry including regional and national banks, loan servicers, consumer finance companies, mortgage bankers, credit card issuers, debt buyers and third-party debt collectors. She also regularly advises clients with matters involving the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Truth in Lending Act and Regulation Z.

At Greenberg Traurig, Gray represents financial institutions in complex civil litigation, including class actions and regulatory enforcement actions. She has handled matters arising under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, the Truth In Lending Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the National Flood Insurance Act, the bankruptcy code, and the consumer protection statutes of many states.
